August ‘21 Honey Pot – Stories From The Hive
In this month’s Honey Pot, I wanted to share this awesome little natural Lip Balm recipe using beeswax.
Ingredients
● 6 parts raw coconut oil, 1 part beeswax.
OR
● 5 parts olive oil, 1 part beeswax.
For a more emollient balm use:
● 3 parts shea butter, 3 parts coconut oil, 1 part beeswax.
Essential Oils (optional) – if using for scent, use 3-4 drops per 25g balm.
However, check the suitability as many essential oils can irate the skin, especially citrus and spice oil.
Avoid synthetic fragrances. Use only good quality oils such as Dōterra.
Method
1. Line up empty containers.
2. Measure oils and place in a glass jar or bowl.
3. Fill a saucepan with 25 – 30mls of water and bring to the boil.
4. Once boiling, place a glass jar in the centre or bowl over the saucepan.
5. Stir until ingredients are well melted and combined.
6. Remove from heat and let sit for 3 min, then add essential oils if you want
scented balm.
7. Pour mixture into the lip balm containers and let cool.
8. If you would like a tinted balm, add a pinch of coloured mineral makeup until you get the desired colour.
9. Pour into containers and allow to cool.
I must thank Victoria Clayton, from my local Beekeeping Club, for providing this easy little recipe for my TK Club Members to try.
Bee happy.
